Ultralight Flying

I started flying in 2000 ,I always had an interest in it just didn't know if I would ever get the opportunity to pursue my interests.So about mid summer of 2000 I went down to the local airport ,,met some of the people and pilots there,engaged in some conversation and expressed my interest in flying.Pilots are a great group of people and they are always eager to share stories and information with someone interested in listening.I started talking with some of them about taking leasons ,well, this is where I got a little disheartened.Flying leasons are fairly expensive and I could see right then that my dream of flying may not come to be .One of the pilots there then offered up an alternative.Ultralights..They filled me in on what ultralights were about and told me of an ultralight airpark not far from the airport .I went over to check it out and met another group of pilots that were happy to share information with me and they gave me the tour of the hangers and all the different planes they had there.This ultralight thing made me just a little nervous at first ,see most of these planes are just aluminum tubing covered with a fabric.Well after some talking about the planes and some of the pilots experiences, I decided it was relatively safe .The price for lessons was within reach for me and I could even see where it may be possible to own one myself.That very day I had someone offer me a free ride ,just to see what I thought about it ,,,went on the ride and from that moment I was hooked.Ultralight flying has been a great experience for me that offers a very rewarding sense of accomplishment ..
